When it comes to 3D printing of high-carbon high-speed steels or special alloys, we are in our element. Through years of perfecting our parameters and processes, as well as our material know-how, we have made crack-free, high-density printed components our core competence in small and large series production.

KOLIBRI Metals has set itself the task of constantly improving already sophisticated basic materials for their application. We like to talk about the development of Metal-Matrix-Composites (MMC) which are composed according to customer requirements. Our base materials can have a low or high carbon content in the ferritic range. High-speed steels or classic tool steels are among our base/matrix materials here. These are supplemented by a variety of stainless steels or light metals based on titanium, aluminum or magnesium.

You as a customer confront us with your requirements and we as your service provider develop the appropriate material composition for you. The thus smallest steel mill in the world allows you a multitude of possibilities that were previously closed to you.

Our process technology allows crack-free components even in large dimensions with very high density - ideal for high-strength and wear-prone applications. Achieved hardnesses of up to 68 HRC for ferritic steels or over 40 HRC for stainless steels distinguish our printed products.

Elements that we add from our standard to the matrix for the composition of the MMC are, for example, industrial diamond, various carbides, Mo2S, and many other components. Due to individual customer requirements, new compositions are created again and again.
